The federal government of Nigeria has secured the release of all the remaining 23 hostages of the Abuja – Kaduna train attack in March this year.

The rescue was spearheaded by a presidential committee led by General Lucky Irabor, the chief of defense staff.

In a statement by Prof. Usman Yusuf, the seven-man committee’s secretary this evening confirmed the development.

Yusuf revealed that the rescue plan was conceived and closely guided by Gen. Irabor, ‘from start to finish, with support from other relevant agencies of government and security establishments.

The victims, who are, therefore, the last batch of the terrorists’ captives to be released, are, according to Yusuf, in the custody of the government.

It could be recalled that Boko Haram attacked the train carrying several passengers seven months ago. As part of the attack, they took away 60 people as captives.
