The Federal Government of Nigeria has evacuated 542 Nigerians who were stuck in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to a statement by Manzo Ezekiel, a spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), among the returnees were 79 men, 460 women, and three babies. NEMA welcomed them all on Sunday.
At 4:29 a.m., a Max Air chartered jet brought them to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
They underwent a medical checkup, a profile review by several pertinent agencies, and clearance by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
According to Ezekiel, NEMA handed each of them a token to help them travel to their various destinations.
Mustapha Ahmed, the Director-General of NEMA, counseled them to learn from their mistakes and help the country grow.
