The Nigerian House of Representatives has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of appointing people who are allegedly working against his administration’s anti-corruption crusade.

The Nigerian lower chamber made its position known through its Committee on Public Accounts.

According to the committee’s chairman, Oluwole Oke, the proposed capital budget cut of the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation from over N2 billion to N62 million has been rejected by the lawmakers.

Oke called out Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, as well as the Budget Office of the Federation and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Oke, who maintained that such an act is a deliberate attempt to cripple the auditing agency, added that the Head of Civil Service and other concerned public officers would be asked to appear before the House Committee in seven days.
