An unnamed Zazzau Emirate title holder was detained by Kaduna State police in Zaria for reportedly sodomizing a 14-year-old kid.
DSP Muhammadu Jalige, the state’s police spokesman, told reporters on Wednesday in Zaria, Kaduna State, that the suspect will face charges once the investigation is over.
The incident occurred on December 9 in the Kwarbai Area of Zaria, according to the victim’s elder brother, Hamza Zubairu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria.
According to Mr. Zubairu, the suspect used to be highly respected in the neighborhood and was a neighbor of the victim’s parents.
It was learned that the defendant sent the victim into his room on the day of the crime to get some cash, but followed the adolescent inside and locked the door.
Following that, the title holder pulled a knife and threatened to kill the boy if he called attention to what he was about to do to him.
The boy was said to have experienced trauma, and he lacked the nerve to tell anyone what had happened before telling his aunt.
“It was the aunt that reported the case to the police at the Zaria City Divisional Police Headquarters,” Mr Zubairu said.
Reacting to the incident, Aishatu Ahmed, the coordinator of the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre at Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Zaria, said the centre received a request for medical attention for the victim, adding that the findings and diagnosis had been sent to the Zaria City Divisional Police Headquarters.
