The two wives and five children of HRH Sani Mohammed of the Gassol Local Government Area, Chief of Mutum Biyu, were murdered

on Saturday by their abductors after being held captive for about two weeks.

The gunmen kidnapped the victims on January 19 at their home in Jalingo, the state capital.

The state commissioner for information and reorientation, Lois Emmanuel, released a press statement in which she strongly condemned the murder, calling it barbarous, sinful, and terrible.

The government expressed sadness that the latest incident had hampered its ongoing efforts to rid the state of kidnappers and other types of banditry activities.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining adequate protection for people’s lives and property.

In order to hold those responsible for such criminal acts accountable, it also committed to strengthen networking with security authorities in the state.

The government expressed its condolences to the Mutum-Biyu Chiefdom’s monarch and citizens over the terrible tragedy and prayed to God to grant the deceased’s souls rest and the family the strength to endure the irreparable loss.

However, reports have shown that one of the children fled and is currently receiving medical care in an unnamed health facility, according to Abdullahi Usman, the state police public relations officer, who also confirmed the incident.
