The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Federal Government to obey the interim order issued by the Supreme Court on the redesign of the naira.

In a press briefing on Sunday, APC Chairman Abdullahi Adamu announced that the party’s National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, and APC governors met in Abuja and discussed the issue.

Adamu similarly draw the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and resolve the ongoing crisis caused by the redesign policy, saying “The meeting is asking His Excellency, Mr President, to intervene to resolve the issues.”

Also, Adamu stated that the CBN’s policy has caused overwhelming difficulties for the people and the national economy.

“We note very seriously that the program and its implementation is causing unprecedented difficulties to the people of Nigeria and the national economy,” Adamu lamented.

In attendance at the meeting were the members of the National Working Committee of the party, Governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa) and Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Sani Bello (Niger).

The governors, however, called on the Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to respect the existing Supreme Court injunction.

The ruling party presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also joined the meeting while it was in progress. The resolution made at the meeting is without prejudice to the case currently before the Supreme Court regarding the redesign policy.
