The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) has put in place a 10-person governing council to run the school’s business.
The proprietor, Nafiu Rabiu, started the council on Tuesday in Kano. He gave them the job of making sure the university was at the top of its field.
The owner claimed, through board member Rabiu Isiyaku, that his late father’s philosophy and love of learning were the driving forces behind the development of the university.
He said that the late Khalifa’s promise to start the institution while he was still alive gave his children the drive and motivation to make his dream come true.
Mr. Rabiu said the university was initially named Attanzeel University, which symbolises Khalifa’s lifelong commitment to the Holy Quran.
“The National Universities Commission, NUC, in recognition of Khalifa’s contributions, directed the renaming of the institution to Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University.
“The university was formally granted a license to operate by the Federal Executive Council through the NUC on May 12, 2022.
“The Muhammad Rabiu Islamic Foundation International, which is the formal proprietor of the university, believes that quality education, especially at the university level, is pivotal to the generation of future leaders,” he said.
In response, Prof. Sani Zahradeen, the head of the council, thanked the management for letting them serve.
He said that he was sure the council would do its job well enough to meet the management’s expectations.
Mr. Zaharadeen, a former vice chancellor of Bayero University Kano, pledged the council’s commitment to work assiduously to ensure the university achieved greater heights.
