Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu, has traveled abroad to prepare for his inauguration on May 29, 2023.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Tunde Rahman on behalf of the Office of the President-elect, he stated that traveling had become necessary in order to get the much-needed rest following the extremely taxing campaign and election seasons.

The President-elect traveled to Europe on Tuesday night, according to Rahman, who said he left via the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.
He said: “The President-elect decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan Fasting that begins Thursday.”
According to Rahman, while the President-elect is away, he will also take advantage of the time to arrange his transition plan before his return.
