Woman Stabs Husband to Death in Bauchi

A 21-year-old woman, Maimunatu Sulaiman has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband.

According to the police the arrest was made after receiving a report on the incident, on July 5, 2023, at about 11:40 p.m.

Upon receiving the report, officers of the NPF swiftly responded and arrived at the crime scene in the Kofar Dumi area of Bauchi metropolis.

Both deceased and the suspect were immediately taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for medical attention.

“Consequently, reports obtained from medical doctors confirmed that the victim died as a result of an injury sustained on his chest, while the suspect sustained minor bruises on her stomach.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Maimuna stabbed Aliyu Mohammad as a result of an altercation ensued between them on the 5th of July, 20223 at about 1800hrs in their matrimonial home,” the statement read.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the crime. In light of the seriousness of the case, the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammad, psc, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.

According to ASP Gimba, the investigation is currently ongoing, and once it is completed, the suspect will be charged accordingly and brought before a court of law to face trial.
