Sokoto Governor Redeems Pledge, Donates Vehicle to Orphanage

Sokoto State Governor Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto FCNA, has redeemed his earlier pledge of car donation to Sokoto orphanage.

The vehicle handed over to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Social Welfare, Hajiya Amina Muhammad Jekada, was a personal donation of Governor Aliyu to the orphanage.

Presenting the vehicle, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Aliyu on Administration, Ibrahim Umar Gandi said the gesture was a personal effort of the governor, aimed at ensuring orphans and inmates are conveyed to school in good time.

He noted that the official vehicle promised by the governor would soon be delivered to the orphanage, calling on the management to maintain the vehicle.

“This vehicle is personally donated to this orphanage by Governor Aliyu in order to ease the movement of these young boys and girls. So maintain it as the same way maintain your private vehicles or even more.” He pleaded.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the ministry, the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Amina Muhammed Jekada expressed appreciation for the gesture done by the governor.

She further praised the governor for redeeming all his pledges made to the orphanage, stating that the ministry’s cash allocation has since been restored following the his directives to that effect.

“We remain highly grateful to the governor for the care, love and concern shown to the orphanage” She averred.

Hajiya Amina assured the governor that the new vehicle donated would be judiciously utilized.

It could be recalled that Governor Aliyu was at the orphanage a week ago where he promised to attend to the plight of the inmates.

During the visit, Governor Aliyu expressed dissatisfaction with lack of feeding for the inmates and the general situation of the home.
