President Bola Tinubu has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
This was disclosed during the 63rd Ordinary Session held in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau.
Tinubu succeeds President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau.
In his address at the meeting, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of upholding democratic principles within the sub-region, expressing a strong commitment to democracy as the most effective form of governance.
As the Chairman, he will assume a crucial role in guiding ECOWAS member states towards economic progress, political stability, and enhanced collaboration.
