Argentinian soccer superstar Lionel Messi has signed a contract with Inter Miami, Major League Soccer team in the US, till 2025.
The 36-year-old striker, who led Argentina to victory in the World Cup last year, will be officially unveiled by the team in a ceremony and is expected to join them on the pitch soon.
Messi’s arrival in Miami has generated excitement and is anticipated to increase interest in the game and MLS throughout the United States.
Inter Miami, currently struggling in the MLS Eastern Conference, hopes that Messi’s presence will help revive the team’s fortunes.
Similarly, the Club’s co-owner, David Beckham, expressed pride in signing a player of Messi’s caliber, highlighting his ambition to grow football in the USA.
Also, Inter Miami’s head coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, has previously managed Messi during their time at FC Barcelona and the Argentine national team.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber hailed Messi’s decision to join Inter Miami as a testament to the league’s momentum and energy.
The club is preparing for a grand arrival ceremony and Messi’s first training session, which will attract thousands of fans.
It was learned that with the addition of Messi and potentially Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets, Inter Miami aspires to transform from an underperforming team to a championship contender.
It could be recalled that Lionel Messi’s illustrious career includes numerous accolades, such as winning the Copa America and the World Cup with Argentina.
He also achieved remarkable success with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, winning multiple domestic and international titles.
