Governor Sule Calls For Proactive Security Measures

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule has called for proactive action against insecurity following the discovery of Lithium in the state.

Sule made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa.

He said he came to congratulate the CDS on his well-deserved appointment, while appreciating the Army for providing adequate security to the state, the governor said that with the discovery of the Lithium deposit in Nasarawa, there is the need to avoid the Zamfara experience by being proactive on security challenges the discovery will pose.

Nasarawa state has been discovered to have abundant deposits of lithium and other natural resources. To maintain peace and harmony among residents, a proactive security measure is needed in the state.

The CDS in his remarks applauded the governor for his support to the Army and developmental initiatives for the state.

Major General Musa also assured the governor of the Armed Forces continuous support to Nasarawa state which he said is strategically close to the Federal Capital.

The Defence Chief also called for the need to put all necessary regulatory control on mining activities in the state to forestall security breaches. He added that there is need to be proactive to maintain continuous peace in Nasarawa State.
