Governor Buni Unveils Plans To Cushion Subsidy Removal Impact

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has addressed the concerns of citizens in the wake of fuel subsidy removal by unveiling a plan to alleviate its impact through the provision of palliatives.

According to a statement issued by his Director General of Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, the Buni said his administration is committed to easing the hardships caused by the removal of the subsidy.

“Government is conscious of these hardships caused by the subsidy removal and will look into these critical areas to provide palliatives to our people.

“We will look into ways of supporting inter and intra town transport and other necessary services to our people.

“Similarly, government would work out measures to provide shuttle buses to students of tertiary institutions at affordable costs” Governor Buni said.

Also, Governor Buni called for the cooperation of the people of Yobe State in implementing the proposed measures, along with other policies and programs geared towards the overall development of the state.

It was also noted in the statement that Governor Buni had recently participated in meetings with the Nigeria Governors Forum and the Nigeria Economic Council, adding that during the meetings, representatives from various states and the federal government deliberated on strategies to mitigate the effects of the subsidy removal.
