The Sokoto State Government has approved the award of massive contracts for road projects in the state capital, with call on traders living along the affected roads to vacate.
The appeal was in line with the government’s effort aimed at ensuring no trader loses any of his item or shade as a result of the ongoing construction exercise.
The construction of township roads by the Ahmed Aliyu led administration is part of efforts to rid Sokoto metropolitan roads of potholes.
Most recent among the roads projects awarded are 287 meters Abarshi road in Rijiyar Dorowa area 220 meters Hospital road as well as Isa road in Gawon Na ma areas all within Sokoto metropolitan area.
The projects which commenced on Thursday are expected to be completed in two months.
The three roads had for the past few decades been in a state of disrepair until recently when Dr Ahmed Aliyu vowed to give roads construction and renovation necessary attention.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson to Sokoto state Governor Malam Abubakar Bawa,Governor Aliyu reassured people of the state of people oriented projects.
He added that more township and rural roads are in the pipeline, as part of effort to boosting economic and agricultural activities in both urban and rural areas of the state.

“So we will give roads projects all the attention they deserve in order to move our state forward” He averred.
Governor Aliyu further said his administration’s blueprint for the state is meant to ensure a new Sokoto state, that can compete favorably with its sister states in terms of democratic dividends.
When completed, the roads would go a long way in not only ensuring a pothole-free township roads, but would also beautify Sokoto city.
