Joy Bishara, one of the brave Chibok schoolgirls who managed to escape from the clutches of Boko Haram during the invasion of Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, 2014, has recently become engaged to her lover in the United States of America.

It could be recalled that during the incident, a total of 276 female students, aged between 16 and 18, were kidnapped by the terrorist group.

Miraculously, 57 of the schoolgirls, including Joy Bishara, escaped by leaping from the trucks in which they were being transported, while some others were later rescued by the Nigerian Armed Forces. However, over 100 remained missing.

After their escape, Joy Bishara and her cousin, Lydia Pogu, relocated to the United States. There, Joy furthered her education and successfully graduated from Southeastern University with a degree in social work in 2021.
