President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who assumed office on May 29, 2023, is set to unveil the list of Ministerial nominees within the next forty-eight (48) hours, as required by the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution.

Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, the Leader of the Senate, made the disclosure, stating that, “President Tinubu personally informed me about the development during a phone call at around 10:03 am., when he extended a birthday greetings to me.”

He added that due to the urgency of submitting the Ministerial list to the Senate, President Tinubu expressed regret for not being able to attend the birthday lecture.

At the same event, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed concern regarding recurring conflicts between newly-elected Governors and their predecessors upon assuming office.

He commended Senator Bamidele for his loyalty to President Tinubu, a relationship that spans over three decades since Bamidele served as an aide to Tinubu in the National Assembly in 1992.

Senator Akpabio also highlighted the confrontational attitudes displayed by many governors towards their predecessors, citing examples of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Adamu Ailero, and others.

He, however, praised the Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebamiji, for not engaging in such disputes with his predecessor.

During the event, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, emphasized the need for political office holders to show empathy towards the Nigerian people during this season of hardship.

He suggested that reducing the number of vehicles in their convoys would be a meaningful step.

Prof. Ogundipe also pointed out that Nigeria can improve its security situation by taking control of cyberspace, although he acknowledged that insecurity is a global issue faced by many countries.
