Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has taken a decisive step in response to the escalating activities of hoodlums in the state capital, declaring a 24-hour curfew, effective Sunday, July 30th.

The hoodlums’ actions, characterized by violent assaults on people as well as breaking into business premises and homes to steal properties, have prompted the need for the stringent measure.

The curfew applies to the entire state and prohibits any movement during its course.

However, the governor has made an exception for those on essential duties with valid identification, who will be allowed to move around during the period.

Governor Fintiri urged all citizens and residents to comply with the directive, emphasizing that any individual found contravening the order will be arrested and subjected to the full force of the law.

Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, passed the announcement on July 30, 2023.

As the situation unfolds, authorities will be closely monitoring the effectiveness of the curfew in an effort to ensuring peace and safety to the state is restored.

The declaration sends a strong message that lawlessness will not be tolerated, and it is hoped that the curfew will aid in quelling the current wave of violence and unrest in Adamawa State.
