Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has sanctioned a sum of N675 million to cover furniture allowances for the 21 elected local government council Chairmen in the state.
Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, confirmed this in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Sani-Umar, stated that this approval is applicable for the period from 2022 to 2024.
The Permanent Secretary praised the governor for his generosity and his focus on projects that directly impact the lives of the public.
In response, Aminu Ahmed, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and also the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government, expressed appreciation on behalf of his colleagues and ensured that the allocated funds would cover furniture allowances for local government council members, councillors, and secretaries.
He stated “The allowance is long overdue but with the coming of this administration, our impeccable and amiable governor has graciously approved the allowance, this is a sign of good leadership.
“May Almighty Allah guide him and give him the wisdom to excellently pilot the affairs of the state,” he prayed.
