Armed Gunmen Kidnap Residents in Bauchi

Reports coming from Gumau town in Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, have indicated that kidnapping has resurfaced in the axis as suspected armed men kidnapped two people.

Before taking the victims away in the early hours of Saturday, the gunmen allegedly fired warning shots into the air to frighten the locals.

In response to the occurrence, Hon. Dabo Ismail Haruna, who represents the Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, condemned the act.

He noted that the armed men have returned to terrorise communities by kidnapping people repeatedly for ransom.

The Toro Federal constituency’s recent series of kidnappings, he added, has caused tremendous alarm in the state.

He nevertheless promised his residents that legislative initiatives would put an end to the terrible acts.

Haruna urged the Federal Government and the State Governor of the State, Sen. Bala Mohammed, to promptly order the dispatch of additional security agencies to the local government to apprehend criminals.

As of the time of filing this report, the Bauchi State Police Command hadn’t reacted to the incident.
