The Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi’s Al Mushrif district, United Arab Emirates, has been renamed ‘Mariam, Umm Eisa,’ translating to ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus’ in English.

The change, directed by Abu Dhabi’s crown prince Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, intends to strengthen connections among followers of different religions.

Senior chaplain Andrew Thompson from St Andrew’s Church expressed enthusiasm for the shared celebration of Mary’s significance, as she symbolizes devotion to God.

Also, Jeramie Rinne, senior pastor of Evangelical Community Church in Abu Dhabi, praised the mosque’s renaming as a demonstration of religious tolerance, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to peaceful coexistence.

In another development, a church in Al Ain reportedly opened its doors for Maghrib prayers, accommodating over 200 Asian Muslim workers.
