Manchester United has officially stated that after an internal investigation, Mason Greenwood is not guilty of the rape and assault accusations that were made against him.

The club has announced that while Greenwood has been cleared of the charges, he will be continuing his football career away from the team.

The club released a statement on its official website, explaining that based on the evidence available, the accusations against Greenwood were not substantiated.

The online material that had circulated did not present the complete picture, leading to the conclusion that he did not commit the alleged offences.

The Citizen Reports gathered that while Greenwood has acknowledged his mistakes and taken responsibility for his actions, the decision has been made mutually between the club and the player that he will pursue his football career elsewhere.

It was disclosed that the decision comes after careful consideration of the challenges that would arise from his continuing to play at Manchester United.

It could be recalled that Greenwood, a product of the club’s academy, made his last appearance for Manchester United in a 1-0 victory against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup on January 22.

Having scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the club, he leaves behind a notable record since joining the team at the age of six.
