Police in Bauchi State conducted a successful operation in Yankari Forest, resulting in the elimination of 10 bandits and the rescue of 39 kidnap victims.

The exercise aptly named Operation Sharan Daji, marked a significant victory in the fight against crime in the region.

Ahmed Wakili, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Command, made the announcement in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Wakili, the operation was triggered by a distress call from the Gaji community, which had fallen prey to a brutal attack by 24 kidnappers on Thursday.

The victims, primarily businessmen returning from the Mararaban Liman Katagum Market, were forcibly taken by the assailants and transported to an undisclosed location deep within Yankari Forest, known ominously as the Red Mountain.

Disturbingly, the kidnappers had initially demanded a staggering N50 million ransom for each captive, creating an urgent need for intervention.

The authorities swiftly mobilized, initiating Operation Sharan Daji to rescue the victims and bring the criminals to justice.

The joint security operation proved highly successful as it resulted in the demise of 10 bandits while safely liberating 39 hostages.

The victims, who had endured days of captivity and uncertainty, were finally reunited with their families.

This operation serves as a testament to the dedication and bravery of the Bauchi State Police Force in their relentless pursuit of security and justice.

Authorities have pledged to continue their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Bauchi State, sending a clear message that criminal activities will not go unpunished.

As the investigation into this incident continues, the people of Bauchi State can take solace in the knowledge that their security remains a top priority, and the law enforcement agencies are committed to maintaining peace and order in the region.
