Meta to Launch Business Verification and Flows Feature on WhatsApp

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has revealed plans to introduce a verification system for businesses on the messaging platform.

The announcement was made during a media briefing, the details of which were embargoed until Wednesday.

Nikila Srinivasan, Vice President of Business Messaging at Meta, disclosed the company’s strategy.

Meta’s initiative aims to enhance user confidence by allowing businesses to attain a “Meta verified” status, signifying their authenticity.

To achieve this verification, businesses must undergo a validation process with Meta, and in return, they will receive a verified badge, elevated account support, and protection against impersonation.

Nikila Srinivasan highlighted additional premium features that will accompany the Meta Verified status for businesses.

These features include the ability to create a customized WhatsApp page for easy discoverability via web searches and multi-device support, enabling multiple employees to engage with customers.

The company plans to initiate testing of Meta Verified with small businesses using the WhatsApp Business app before rolling it out to businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform in the future.

In addition to the verification system, Meta also unveiled an exciting feature known as “Flows.” This feature will enable businesses to provide a comprehensive range of services without requiring users to leave the chat interface.

With Flows, businesses can offer rich menus and customizable forms tailored to various user needs. Meta intends to make Flows accessible to businesses worldwide using the WhatsApp Business Platform in the coming weeks.
