The Senate has confirmed Ola Olukoyede as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Alongside this, the appointment of Muhammad Hammajoda as the secretary of the anti-graft agency was also confirmed.

The confirmation came after Olukoyede and Hammajoda, accompanied by some management staff of the Commission, appeared at the National Assembly.

Their screening by the upper chamber took place on Wednesday afternoon, approximately a week after President Bola Tinubu appointed them to these vital positions.

This marks a notable change in the EFCC’s leadership, as Olukoyede assumes his role nearly four months after the suspension of the former chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, by President Tinubu.

Both Olukoyede and Hammajoda are expected to serve in their respective capacities for a renewable term of four years initially, signalling a new chapter for the EFCC in its fight against economic and financial crimes.
