In a grand ceremony held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, adorned twelve Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and nineteen Commissioners of Police (CPs) with their new ranks on Wednesday.
The event marked the culmination of the Police Service Commission’s approval for the promotion of 31 high-ranking officers, alongside 5,687 dedicated senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force.
Addressing the gathering, IGP Egbetokun urged the newly promoted officers to uphold the core values of service, sacrifice, and selflessness as they assume their higher responsibilities.
He commended their unwavering dedication and hard work, emphasizing that their promotions were a testament to their outstanding commitment to maintaining law and order in their respective duty posts.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Governors of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Kogi, and Lagos States, as well as Dame Patience Ebele Jonathan, Retired IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and Senator representing Kogi Central.
Royal dignitaries from Kogi and Lagos States, members of the Force Management Team, senior police officers, relatives, and well-wishers of the officers also attended the event.
The Inspector General of Police extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the newly promoted officers, urging them to redouble their efforts in serving the nation.
He expressed gratitude to the Police Service Commission for their thorough and objective evaluation of the officers’ performances, assuring continued collaboration to enhance excellence and uphold the NPF’s duty to serve and protect the people of Nigeria.
