The Gombe State Police Command paraded on Friday four suspects linked to the heart-wrenching murder of 16-year-old Alamin Ahmadu.

The suspects, identified as Ahmadu Ibrahim (25), Babuka Abubakar (35), Abdulsalam Mohammed (28), and Muhammadu Abubakar (28), all residents of Liji quarters in Yalmatu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, were presented to the media by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar.

The arrest unfolded after the anti-kidnapping squad received a formal complaint from Ahmadu Yaya, the father of the deceased.

Yaya reported that he received a distressing call from unknown persons who claimed to have kidnapped his son, Alamin, a student at Ubaida Academy Arawa. The perpetrators demanded a ransom of N5 million for the safe release of the teenager.

ASP Mahid Abubakar outlined the swift response of the anti-kidnapping unit, led by the Officer in Charge (O/C) Anti Kidnapping, who successfully apprehended the suspects.

Subsequent investigations revealed a chilling twist to the case. Ahmadu Ibrahim, an employee at a rice mill company under the victim’s father, emerged as the mastermind behind the kidnapping.

Abubakar revealed, “The suspect confessed to having kidnapped the 17-year-old Alamin and taken him to Lijji Hill but later confirmed to have killed him following the failure of his father to pay the ransom of N700,000 as earlier agreed through phone negotiation.”

The police assured that the suspects are in custody and will face charges in court for their alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of Alamin Ahmadu.
