Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, announced on Monday the recruitment of Sam Altman, the former co-chair of OpenAI.

Altman, renowned for his role in spearheading the development of the groundbreaking ChatGPT, is set to lead a new advanced AI research team at Microsoft.

“The mission continues,” Altman declared on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing his commitment to advancing AI technologies despite recent changes in his professional landscape.

Nadella expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating on X, “Sam Altman, along with OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and their accomplished team, will be instrumental in driving Microsoft’s pioneering efforts in the field of artificial intelligence.”

The announcement comes just days after Altman’s unexpected dismissal from OpenAI’s board. The decision prompted a ripple effect, leading to several other high-profile exits from the company. Reports also suggest that influential investors are actively advocating for Altman’s reinstatement at OpenAI.
