Governor Ahmad Fintiri intervened following the attack on the Adamawa State Police Command headquarters in Yola, which saw a clash between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police, leaving Inspector Jacob Daniel dead.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday, with allegations of an unprovoked invasion by the military.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri swiftly responded, urging both security agencies to peacefully resolve their differences and uphold their shared duty of protecting lives and property.

He called for calm and emphasized the need for the police and army to collaborate harmoniously.

Amidst the chaos, a police inspector, who narrowly escaped the attack, expressed discontent, stating that the military’s use of force was unwarranted.

The officer affirmed the importance of communication and investigation before resorting to such drastic measures.

A senior military officer hinted at addressing the media to present their side of the story, attributing the clash to alleged unprofessional conduct by the police personnel involved.

The military officer urged patience until the official press conference.

Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, condemned the attack and called for an immediate investigation.

In a press statement, he warned against further attacks on security officers and stated his commitment to justice and maintaining peace among the security agencies.

Brigadier General Gambo Mohammed, the Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, alleged that one of his men was shot and hidden by the police, leading to the military’s intervention to rescue their comrade.
