The Nigerian Air Force’s Air Component of Operation Delta Safe conducted air raids targeting illegal refining plants and thwarting oil theft activities in Rivers State.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed the success of these operations in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja.

The air raids, aimed at economic saboteurs and oil thieves in the south-south region, have been ongoing without interruption.

On Tuesday, two Cotonou boats were spotted at Arugbana near Okrika. Additionally, an active Illegal Refining Site (IRS) equipped with machinery and reservoirs containing illegal items was identified at Yellow Island near Bonny Island, both located in Rivers.

Gabkwet disclosed, “At the location, an active IRS was sighted concealed with reservoirs and a storage tank suspected to contain illegally refined products.”

The Air Component of Operation Delta Safe remains steadfast in its commitment to carrying out its assigned duties until the activities of these saboteurs are either completely halted or reduced to the barest minimum.

This operation underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s dedication to curbing illicit activities that pose threats to the nation’s economic stability and security.

The successful raids mark a significant stride in dismantling illegal refining operations and disrupting oil theft networks in the region.
