Governor Bala Urges BASUG Students to Shape Future at Convocation Ceremony

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, delivered a compelling message to Saadu Zungur University (BASUG) students during the institution’s convocation ceremony held at the main campus in Gadau today.

A statement released by Lawal Muazu Bauchi (SSA New Media) said that the governor noted the crucial role of students in shaping the future of Bauchi and Nigeria.

In his address, Governor Mohammed urged BASUG students to embrace discipline, hard work, and respect for lecturers and university authorities.

He stated the need for students to avoid antisocial behaviour and the influence of negative peer groups, highlighting the impact of individual choices on the collective future.

Governor Mohammed expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting state-owned tertiary institutions with essential infrastructure to facilitate uninterrupted academic activities.

He assured the students that his government is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to learning and growth.

During the convocation ceremony, Governor Mohammed was honoured with a Doctor of Letters degree (Honoris Causa) by BASUG. In response, he spoke about the upcoming Educational Summit scheduled for 18-19th December, aiming to transform the education sector.

The summit will focus on developing a comprehensive roadmap to ensure equitable access to quality and functional education in Bauchi State.

Addressing the escalating security challenges facing the state and the nation, Governor Mohammed urged the university management to contribute ideas on addressing issues like cybercrime, kidnapping, and drug addiction.

Governor Mohammed also called on university staff to embody selflessness, fellowship, and commitment, encouraging a spirit of cooperation with the management for the overall progress of Bauchi State.
