Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost her bid to overturn the victory of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Governor of Adamawa State.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Monday, unanimously dismissed Binani’s appeal, finding it incompetent and lacking merit.

The appellate court’s decision effectively affirms Fintiri’s victory in the March 18 governorship election. In their judgment, the court cited several reasons for dismissing Binani’s appeal:

Incompetence: The court ruled that Binani’s appeal was filed prematurely, rendering it invalid.

Incomplete Record: The record of appeal used by Binani was found to be incomplete, further weakening her case.

Abandoned Petition: The court determined that Binani had essentially abandoned her petition at the lower tribunal, failing to present a compelling case.

Inconclusive Evidence: The evidence presented by Binani to support her claims of non-compliance with electoral rules was deemed insufficient by the court.

Irrelevant Witnesses: The witnesses called by Binani were judged by the court to be inappropriate and not relevant to the case.

Also, based on these findings, the appellate court upheld the decision of the lower tribunal, confirming Fintiri’s election as Governor of Adamawa State.

Additionally, the court levied a cost of N500,000 against Binani for the benefit of the second and third respondents.
