The Adamawa State House of Assembly has approved a N225.893 billion budget for the state’s operations in 2024, following Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s initial proposal.

The passage of the budget comes after meticulous examination and adoption of the Finance, Budget, and Appropriation Committee’s report.

During the session, Majority Leader Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa) lauded the committee’s dedication and stressed the Assembly’s responsibility to ensure that all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) adhere to the committee’s recommendations in their budget execution.

Other lawmakers, including Yohanna Sahabo Jauro (Mubi South), commended the committee for their timeliness and encouraged revenue-generating agencies to ramp up their efforts to bolster the state’s coffers.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, while presenting the Committee of Supply’s report, revealed that the budget allocates N111.379 billion for recurrent expenditure and N114.514 billion for capital expenditure, bringing the total for state services in 2024 to N225.9 billion.

Following the third reading, Wesley instructed the clerk to prepare a clean copy of the bill for Governor Fintiri’s approval.
