A devastating attack on the village of Mushu in Plateau State, Nigeria, has left at least 16 people dead.

The attack occurred on Saturday night while residents were asleep, plunging the community into grief and shock.

Captain Oya James, spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, the multi-security taskforce working to maintain peace in the region, confirmed the incident.

Describing the attack as “sudden and brutal,” he assured that security personnel were immediately deployed to the area to prevent further escalation.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed strong condemnation of the violence, calling it “barbaric and senseless.”

He directed security agencies to act swiftly in apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring they face justice.

The Governor’s statement, issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, also urged communities across the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security forces.

He acknowledged the pain and frustration caused by such repeated attacks and the impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators.

“The safety and well-being of our citizens are paramount,” the statement emphasized. “The government will take proactive measures to curb these ongoing attacks and bring an end to this prolonged violence.”
