Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has signed the 2024 N613.2 billion budget into law.

Bago warned officials of his government not to generate and spend the state revenue or face his wrath.

The Citizen Reports learned that the governor signed the budget on Wednesday, hours after the state assembly passed it, noting that the budget holds a lot and assured residents that it will be implemented accordingly.

Building bridges of collaboration, Governor Bago announced plans to finalize the Legislative quarters within three months, ensuring comfortable and well-equipped surroundings for the lawmakers.

He also warned government officials, declaring, “I will not tolerate any unauthorized generation or spending of state revenue. Those who violate this will face serious consequences.”

Further emphasizing his commitment to good governance, Bago pledged unhindered access for the legislature to scrutinize government activities.

“All heads of MDAs must be available for legislative oversight and inquiries,” he stated. “Transparency and accountability are vital for our government to thrive.”

On his part, Speaker Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji explained the slight increase in the budget to address critical needs aligned with the “New Niger” agenda.

He commended the Planning Commission’s collaborative approach, which facilitated the swift passage of the budget.

“The 10th Assembly fully supports Governor Bago’s vision and will work tirelessly to see it realized,” Sarkin-Daji affirmed.
