In a surprising turn of events, a Kano State Shariah court has withdrawn its earlier order for the arrest of senior customs officer Yusuf Ismail Mai Biscuit.

The court had issued the arrest warrant on Thursday, citing the officer’s absence and lack of representation during proceedings.

However, the court reversed its decision on Friday, acknowledging the defense counsel’s explanation that despite not being personally summoned, the customs officer was present in court.

Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, Barrister Idris said the judge was misled as he was in court to represent his client on the issue.

The judge set January 8 for the mention of the case.
