In a recent development, Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, has instructed the Head of Service, Barr. Mallam Fannami, to cease the ongoing biometric data capturing of civil servants in the state by the conclusion of February.

During an engagement session with teachers from Zanna Umarti Primary School and Government Secondary School in Damasak town, Governor Zulum emphasized the need to discontinue the biometric process and explore alternative methods for verifying information from civil servants.

Governor Zulum highlighted concerns regarding the burden placed on civil servants, particularly teachers, due to the biometric exercise, noting that it often necessitates their absence from duty posts to meet deadlines.

Asserting that existing identification methods such as Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) and National Identification Numbers (NIN) are sufficient for authentication purposes, the governor urged for a swift conclusion to all pending biometric exercises by the end of February.

He directed the Ministry of Finance and the biometric unit to expedite the completion of ongoing exercises before March 1st, emphasizing the importance of alleviating unnecessary stress and streamlining administrative processes for civil servants.
