The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to people who have illegally erected buildings at the Abuja Technology Village, urging them to vacate the premises promptly or face legal consequences.

During an inspection of the Pyakasa site in Abuja on Monday, Minister Wike, accompanied by the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, announced the deadline for unlawful occupants of the area.

In 2015, the Federal Government, through the FCT minister, reached an agreement with unauthorised residents, directing them to seek alternative accommodations.

Despite this directive, the number of illegal structures continued to rise, prompting the need for decisive action to reinforce the government’s stance.

Minister Nnaji underscored the importance of the Abuja Technology Village in fostering innovation and hosting cutting-edge technologies that align with the Federal Government’s objectives.

Therefore, it is imperative to reclaim the area and designate it appropriately to attract investors and facilitate the realisation of its goals.

The ultimatum issued by Minister Wike signals the government’s commitment to restoring order and enforcing the rule of law within the Abuja Technology Village.

Failure to comply with the deadline may result in legal repercussions, as the authorities are determined to uphold the integrity of the area and promote its intended purpose as a hub for technological innovation and development.
