EFCC Nabs 27 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Bauchi

The Gombe Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of 27 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud.

The apprehension, which occurred on Thursday, February 22, 2024, took place at D&D Apartment and Bubes Hotel in Yelwa, Bauchi State.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in internet-related offences, EFCC operatives conducted a targeted operation, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects.

Among the items seized from the individuals were a BMW car, iPhones, iPads, laptops, and a desktop computer, believed to be tools used in perpetrating fraudulent activities.

According to official sources, the suspects will remain in custody pending the conclusion of investigations. Subsequently, they will be charged in court to face prosecution for their alleged crimes.

This latest operation indicates the EFCC’s continued efforts to combat cybercrime and clamp down on individuals involved in fraudulent activities across the country.

It serves as a warning to potential perpetrators that law enforcement agencies are vigilant and actively working to ensure the integrity of Nigeria’s cyberspace.
