A 33-year-old butcher, Ibrahim Abubakar, stands accused of the brutal murder of his 25-year-old wife, Hajara Sa’adu, in the community of Sabon Gari-Futy in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the arrest of Abubakar, revealing the grim details of the incident in a statement shared by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, via the command’s official platform on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Abubakar allegedly perpetrated the heinous crime in the early hours of April 8, 2024, at approximately 04:30 a.m.

Reports suggest that a domestic dispute erupted between the couple, triggered by accusations that Hajara Sa’adu took her husband’s phone.

This altercation escalated tragically, culminating in Abubakar fatally stabbing his wife multiple times with a sharp knife, leaving her lifeless body in a pool of blood.

“The suspect brutally killed the deceased…after he accused her of taking away his phone that led to a little argument,” the statement read.

Authorities were alerted to the incident following a report filed by the father of the deceased.

Subsequent investigations conducted by law enforcement officers at the scene of the crime unearthed damning evidence linking Abubakar to the murder.

Interestingly, Abubakar voluntarily confessed to the crime, expressing remorse for his actions.

His admission adds a harrowing dimension to the tragedy, underscoring the grim reality of domestic violence within the community.

The untimely demise of Hajara Sa’adu has left behind a grieving family, including the couple’s only child, whose future now hangs in the balance as justice is sought for the slain mother.

As the investigation unfolds, the Adamawa State Police Command has pledged to diligently pursue the case to its conclusion, ensuring that the perpetrator faces the full force of the law for his reprehensible actions.
