Barcelona manager Xavi has made a U-turn on his decision to leave the club at the end of the season and will now continue in his role, according to reports.
Xavi had previously announced his intention to step down at the end of the campaign, but club president Joan Laporta reportedly insisted he remain in charge, leading to a sensational change of mind.
Positive discussions with Barcelona president Joan Laporta have resulted in Xavi accepting the La Liga side’s proposal and continuing to operate as head coach.
Xavi will now fulfil his contract, which expires in mid-2025.
His contract renewal is huge news for Barcelona, as the club legend took them to their maiden La Liga title in four years and also lifted the Spanish Super Cup crown at bitter rivals’ Real Madrid’s expense.
President Joan Laporta will host an official press conference tomorrow with the club’s media to explain the doubts that arose today and in recent days regarding Xavi’s continuity.
