A group of scholars in Kano, led by Shaikh Abdullahi Uwais Limanci, has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the emirate and urged the Federal Government to intervene promptly to maintain peace.

In a statement, the scholars emphasized that the current situation, if not handled carefully, could lead to chaos and violence.

The scholars acknowledged the complexity of the political situation in Kano State but highlighted its reputation as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

TCR reported that they stressed that the recent developments in the emirate, including the reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano and the subsequent court order restraining the state government from implementing the new law, have created a volatile situation.

The scholars urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take immediate action to prevent the situation from degenerating into violence.

Meanwhile, they emphasized that while the State House of Assembly has the authority to enact laws, the State Government needs the cooperation and support of the Federal Government to maintain peace.

The scholars also cautioned against the use of force to resolve the dispute, emphasizing that it is the responsibility of the State Governor as the Chief Executive to ensure peace and stability.

They urged both contending parties to use civil means to resolve their differences and allow peace to reign in the state.

TCR gathered that the scholars concluded by assuring the President that they would reach out to the contenders to resolve the issue amicably and called on the Almighty Allah to bring peace and prosperity to the nation.
