President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to submit a comprehensive plan for the new minimum wage within 48 hours.
This directive was given on Tuesday at a meeting with the negotiation team at Aso Rock.
According to Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, the president has tasked the finance minister with working out the cost implications of the proposed wage increase within the next two days.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Idris confirmed that all parties involved in the negotiation are working together to achieve a new minimum wage that is “acceptable, sustainable, and realistic” within one week, as reported by a Nigerian newspaper, Daily Trust.
