The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related matters Commission (ICPC) has invited Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi, a female staff member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for questioning regarding sexual harassment allegations against the suspended Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Lamuwa.

According to reports, Fajemirokun-Ajayi arrived at the ICPC headquarters on Friday, accompanied by her lawyer, and was questioned for several hours before being released.

The ICPC had requested her presence to substantiate the allegations against Lamuwa.

This development follows a petition filed by Fajemirokun-Ajayi, a married employee of the ministry, alleging sexual harassment by Lamuwa.

At least three other women have also come forward with similar allegations.

The Ministry’s Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) has additionally accused Lamuwa of high-handedness, maladministration, favouritism, and financial improprieties, affecting workers’ welfare and rights.

The Permanent Secretary was suspended by the Office of the Head of Service following the petition.

The ICPC’s investigation is ongoing, and the outcome may lead to further action against Lamuwa.

As quoted by an official, “The woman wasn’t arrested but rather invited by the ICPC to come and substantiate the sexual harassment allegations against the Permanent Secretary of her ministry, Ibrahim Lamuwa.”
