In a timely intervention, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has come to the aid of Zainab Jummai Ado Bayero, her brother, and their mother, who were facing eviction from their Lagos apartment.

The family members of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, had been struggling to pay their rent and were given an ultimatum to vacate the premises by 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature, the family had been facing difficult times since the demise of the late Emir and had been allegedly neglected by the royal family.

The governor’s intervention came after an outcry in the newspapers by Princess Zainab Bayero on behalf of her mother and brother.

Upon arriving at the apartment, the governor’s representative met with the General Manager, Mr. Sunel Kumar, and ensured that the family was not evicted.

TCR reported that the family expressed their gratitude, stating that they were about to be forcefully removed from the facility when the governor’s representative arrived just 15 minutes before the deadline.

The governor’s spokesperson explained that the intervention was motivated by the need to prevent a situation that would have portrayed the royal family and Kano in a negative light.

He emphasized that the family members are not only part of the royal family but also Muslim sisters and brother in need, and that the governor’s humanitarian gesture was a necessary step to support them in their time of need.
