Kano Police Arrest 149 Suspects in 10-Day Crackdown

The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of 149 suspects in connection with various crimes, including armed robbery, thuggery, kidnapping, and drug dealing.

According to SP Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made over the past 10 days as part of a robust crime prevention patrol.

The breakdown of the arrests includes 106 suspected thugs, 25 armed robbery suspects, two suspected kidnappers, three motor vehicle thieves, and three drug dealers.

The police also recovered a pump-action rifle, two vehicles, eight motorcycles, 58 knives, and 87 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Other items recovered include 23 cell phones, 13 cartons of noodles, and 67 silver rings.

According to Haruna, all the suspects have confessed to belonging to a syndicate engaged in the crimes committed.

They are currently undergoing detailed investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged in court.

This crackdown by the Kano Police Command demonstrates their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the state’s citizens.

The arrest of these suspects and the recovery of weapons and other items will undoubtedly contribute to a reduction in crime in the area.
