Nigeria’s power grid has experienced another collapse, leaving the country with a meager 0.80 megawatts of electricity, according to TCR.

A review of the Independent System Operator’s website, a subsidiary of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), revealed that power generation began to dwindle around 2 pm, dropping from an average of 3,417.99MW to 2,797.16MW.

By 3 pm, electricity output had further declined to 1,020.08MW, before plummeting to a mere 0.80MW by 4 pm.

Notably, the Trans-Amadi Power plant was the only facility generating electricity at the time.

This marks the fourth power grid collapse in 2024, highlighting the persistent challenges facing Nigeria’s power sector.
