The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Yushau Ahmed, has cautioned corps members against sharing camp activities on social media.
According to him, this violates the scheme’s standing rules and policies.
During a visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun, on Friday, Ahmed advised corps members to maintain good character and discipline throughout the three-week orientation exercise.
He also encouraged them to take advantage of the skills acquisition program in camp, which aims to make them self-sufficient and better individuals after their service year.
Ahmed emphasized that the skills acquired would enable them to be independent and not rely on white-collar jobs.
He added that the NYSC is collaborating with stakeholders to provide grants to support their ventures.
The D-G assured the corps members of their safety and security, stating that camp officials would not post them to any unsafe locations.
He urged them to be vigilant, take precautionary measures, and maintain good hygiene to avoid contracting diseases, especially cholera.
Ahmed also encouraged corps members to be good ambassadors wherever they are posted in the country.
The NYSC state coordinator in Osun, Mr. Agbor Obim, thanked the D-G for his visit and his concern for the corps members’ well-being.
