The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 25 members of a notorious gang known as ‘sara suka’ responsible for terrorising communities across the state.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, 16 of the suspects were apprehended in the Rigasa axis with weapons and charged with thuggery.

The arrests come as the police command launches a new outfit, the Anti-Vice Unit, to tackle social vices in the state.

The unit will work with all police divisions to address thuggery, phone snatching, drug-related offenses, and arms possession.

Hassan stated, “The Anti-Vice Unit has commenced operations and will liaise with all divisions to handle cases of thuggery, phone snatching, drug and illicit substance consumption, and arms possession.”

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, has charged the new outfit to make Kaduna State safe for the populace by denying criminals operating space.

He also urged parents and guardians to warn their wards against delinquency.

The police command’s move aims to curb the upsurge in thuggery, phone snatching, and drug-related offences among youths in the state.

The arrested suspects are currently facing charges, and the police are committed to ensuring the safety of Kaduna State residents.
