Hamas announced, in a statement released on Wednesday, that Haniyeh’s burial would take place in Doha on Friday, a day after a public funeral in Tehran.
Also, Iran has declared three days of mourning following the death of Hamas chief, Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in an attack blamed on Israel.
Haniyeh will receive an official funeral ceremony in Tehran on Thursday, according to Hamas.
His body will be transported to Doha later that day. In Doha, prayers will be held at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque after Friday prayers, with burial at a Lusail cemetery north of the city.
The Doha ceremony is expected to be a large affair, with “popular and factional attendance, including Arab and Islamic leaders,” according to Hamas.
The funeral procession is likely to be a significant show of support for the slain Hamas leader, who was killed in a controversial attack blamed on Israel.
